[D&D] Mass Effect: Chapter 7 – Attack of the Ninja Vorchas

If there is one thing I learned from these last couple sessions is a mission isn’t finished until we are back at HQ doing our report. Yes, that means there was another surprise waiting for us on the trip back.

And now that I said that I could see my DM doing something in the future so not even doing that is a guarantee that the mission is over!

One correction from last session’s notes: the prototype weapon wasn’t destroyed. Our attack was just enough to disable it but damaged it in the process.

Anyway, here is my usual disclaimer before I begin the recap properly:

[D&D] Mass Effect: Chapter 6 – Pew Pew in Space

You know those times when you think you just finished a quest in a game, go off to turn it in but turns out there was more to do? That is how I felt during this session. Not that I am complaining, it was more like a nice surprise as we were able to tie up some loose ends.

Also, full disclosure: I was horribly distracted and tired during this session so it might have more errors than usual. We’ll see once the rest of my group reads it.

[D&D] Mass Effect: Chapter 5 – The start of paranoia

You know when you see an enemy alone in a game then thinks it will be a straightforward fight, with no fuss or surprises? But when the fight starts it turns out to be way rougher than you expected? That is exactly how the fight we had this session felt for me.

But before we get into all that, one correction from last post: Tiberius killed the second Vorcha with a biotic power, essentially slamming him into the wall. Apparently I forgot to mention that detail because I forgot to write it in my notes, making me think the second Vorcha was killed with the Omni-hammer so I left that part vague.

I am mentioning this because I think it was an interesting detail to characterize Tiberius. I mean, turians have a certain stigma against biotics. Or at least they did pre-invasion.

Last session our squad got assigned a temporary field commander by the name of Tiberius. Or rather Tiberius intruded himself into our squad because of the nature of this mission.

Our first impression of him wasn’t good and as the title of this post spoils, the second impression hasn’t been any better.

After all the trouble S-Hole caused last session I am getting the impression our group is now just suspicious of any new NPCs that gets introduced in the story.

Granted the new NPC that showed up in this session didn’t give the best first impression and there are some other circumstantial evidence he might be trouble. But for now I’d like to believe that his only problem is his personality, that he won’t be S-Hole 2.

One of the characteristics of our group is that we tend to have lengthy discussions about any important decision. Even if we are presented with just two options, if it is important enough we’ll end up discussing all the pros and cons of both until we can get to an agreement. Usually this isn’t a problem. We had a few delays to start on this game due to real life circumstances but this weekend our first real session happened!

In this post I will try to cover all the most important parts that we discussed during our session zero and our first actual session. There is a lot to cover and I swear I tried to cut as much as I could, even then this post will be extra long, even for my standards…

[D&D] Knights of Errant – Finale

The last session of this one-shot took a bit longer to happen due to circumstances outside of our control. It finally happened this last Sunday and it was so worth all the wait. We all had a blast and are already hopping to come back to this setting in the future. But I am getting ahead of myself. 🙂

[D&D] Knights of Errant – Part 6

Last session ended in a big cliffhanger. Almost literally.

I don’t know about the others but I have been spending all this time wondering, almost dreading actually, how this session would start. I mean, Lam and Shadow were all by themselves down in a cave with a fomorian walking in their direction. If the session started directly with combat it would make life really complicated for us.

Well, as always nothing went like anyone was expecting it go. But it was certainly interesting.

[D&D] Knights of Errant – Part 5

One of the things I liked about RPGs is that no matter what I think will happen it always turns out to be something completely different, more interesting.

Of course, this is a two-way streets as we players always end up doing something the DM didn’t expect at all, forcing him to improvise.

This session was a pretty good example of both.
