Games I’ve been playing – March 2020

This is one of those months where all my best plans went down the drain for several reasons. The first one being that I just found myself irritated and and tired for no apparent reason since the last week of February. This is something that happens to me from time to time and fortunately it seems to be gone for now.

The other reasons were the games that pretty much took all my free time this month and what little energy I had. I did try to play some other ones but every time I thought about it I just didn’t find myself with the energy, the interest or the time for it. So only four games really occupied my time during this month.

Hopefully April will be better since as my emotions and energy levels aren’t nearly as bad now.

Games I’ve been playing – February 2020

February certainly felt like a busy month. I think part of it was because of all the Valentine’s events going on in online games. The other part was because despite my best intentions I ended up going into “MUST PLAY ALL THE GAMES!” mode near the end of the month.

That kind of crazy feeling might be settling down though and I might be getting back to a more manageable number of games to play. On the other hand this month has the release of a pretty good DLC for Stellaris and I believe Animal Crossing: New Horizons as well. Maybe even other games I am forgetting about. All of those might throw me into “MUST PLAY ALL THE GAMES!” territory again.

Oh, well. I will worry about that bridge when I have to cross it. For now these are the games I’ve been playing:

Games I’ve been playing – January 2020

January has been one of those weird months where it felt too short and yet very long too. I don’t even know how to explain this phenomenon. All I know is there was a bunch of things I wanted to do but didn’t either because I got sick or the weather wasn’t collaborating. Or both.

This also end up happening to games but at least in this case there was only one culprit: Monster Hunter World. Seriously this is one of those games that seem to distort time: you go for just one hunt and next thing you know it is almost midnight and you need to go to bed.

Somehow I did manage to get to play other games too! They were mostly before I got sucked back into Monster Hunter World, but still, they are something else that I can talk about!

Games I’ve been playing – December 2019

Happy new year!

The last few months of last year were a bit of a blur for me. December in particular I am not even entirely sure of the games I actually played and which ones I thought I played. So I will just stick to the ones I am absolutely sure I played for this post.

One of the things I wanted to do for December was to finish some games that I was close to the end. Another was to get some easy trophies/achievements I was missing to finally move on from them. In the end I was only able to achieve it with Nier: Automata. I guess this gives me some thing to look forward in the beginning of the year.

Anyway, enough rambling, let’s get on with this!

UPDATE: And I just remembered one game I forgot to include the first time. I put it at the end of the list since I don’t have enough to say about it for a whole new post. Sorry for the inconvenience!

[FGO] Farming the Christmas 2019 event

I already knew months ahead that farming the Christmas 2019 event for FGO would be hard for me, thanks to someone building some theoretical teams that could farm it quickly. Most of those teams require double Waver or double Merlin and since I don’t have neither of them I had to do some adaptations that required only for me to borrow one of them.

For the most part I have managed to do so with teams that take 5 to 6 turns in most of the gates at the cost of being able to only use 2 to 3 of the event craft essences (plus whatever the support servant comes with). It is better than what I was expecting given how beefy the enemies are but not as good as what I wished I could do.

Games I’ve been playing – November 2019

After recovering somewhat from my depression on October I began this month with the intention of playing ALL THE GAMES! … which didn’t last for long as I my plans got disrupted by the Ishgardian Restoration in Final Fantasy XIV and that sweet, sweet craft XP. But that also didn’t last as long as I thought it would and I end up going back to some other games I wanted to play.

In the end I played a lot of games but I didn’t feel like I played enough of them. In fact I barely touched some of them but I will mention them here anyway least I forget my current thoughts about these games.

With all that said, these are the games I’ve been playing this past month:

Games I’ve been playing – October 2019

I am sure I am starting to sound like a broken record by now but I had a lot of plans for this month that ended up dashed by depression.

It might seem strange to have depression stop me enjoying certain games but that is just how it is for me. When I am suffering from it I tend to stick to just certain, known games, usually ones that don’t require much energy, thinking or just have something I feel like playing at that moment. MMOs are the ones that suffer the most as I also don’t feel like doing any kind of social activity, even more so if it means dealing with complete strangers.

The good news though is that I seem to be getting over this particular crisis and I am getting back to a “MUST PLAY ALL THE GAMES!” mood. Which is a good sign in this case. XD

Anyway, on to the games!

[FGO] Thoughts on Shimousa

Last week I was able to complete the latest singularity of Fate Grand Order, Shimousa. Overall I liked it and of the post Chapter 1 singularities it is probably my favorite so far together with Shinjuku.

Perhaps slightly better than Shinjuku since I am a sucker for feudal Japan, samurai and my favorite historical figure is Musashi. This singularity was all about those. Well, mostly about samurai and Musashi. XD

Games I’ve been playing – September 2019

My goal for September was to continue playing the same games as I was playing in the previous month. Failing that (which I kinda expected to happen) then it would be to make as much progress in Judgment and Fire Emblem Three Houses as I could as well as get back into Monster Hunter World.

To the surprise of no-one the later end up happening. Well, sort of. I did play a bunch of Judgement and Fire Emblem Three Houses. Monster Hunter World though I kept post-poning for a reason or another. Despite that I didn’t feel like I played enough of those two games despite having made some good progress on them. To make matters worse I got hit with depression on the last week of the month and end up updating my mods for Fallout 4 to serve as my “comfort food” of gaming and to see if it would scratch my itch for something creative.

I better start talking about each game individually least I start to ramble!
