Games I’ve been playing – December 2019

Happy new year!

The last few months of last year were a bit of a blur for me. December in particular I am not even entirely sure of the games I actually played and which ones I thought I played. So I will just stick to the ones I am absolutely sure I played for this post.

One of the things I wanted to do for December was to finish some games that I was close to the end. Another was to get some easy trophies/achievements I was missing to finally move on from them. In the end I was only able to achieve it with Nier: Automata. I guess this gives me some thing to look forward in the beginning of the year.

Anyway, enough rambling, let’s get on with this!

UPDATE: And I just remembered one game I forgot to include the first time. I put it at the end of the list since I don’t have enough to say about it for a whole new post. Sorry for the inconvenience!

[FGO] Farming the Christmas 2019 event

I already knew months ahead that farming the Christmas 2019 event for FGO would be hard for me, thanks to someone building some theoretical teams that could farm it quickly. Most of those teams require double Waver or double Merlin and since I don’t have neither of them I had to do some adaptations that required only for me to borrow one of them.

For the most part I have managed to do so with teams that take 5 to 6 turns in most of the gates at the cost of being able to only use 2 to 3 of the event craft essences (plus whatever the support servant comes with). It is better than what I was expecting given how beefy the enemies are but not as good as what I wished I could do.

Games I’ve been playing – November 2019

After recovering somewhat from my depression on October I began this month with the intention of playing ALL THE GAMES! … which didn’t last for long as I my plans got disrupted by the Ishgardian Restoration in Final Fantasy XIV and that sweet, sweet craft XP. But that also didn’t last as long as I thought it would and I end up going back to some other games I wanted to play.

In the end I played a lot of games but I didn’t feel like I played enough of them. In fact I barely touched some of them but I will mention them here anyway least I forget my current thoughts about these games.

With all that said, these are the games I’ve been playing this past month:

Games I’ve been playing – October 2019

I am sure I am starting to sound like a broken record by now but I had a lot of plans for this month that ended up dashed by depression.

It might seem strange to have depression stop me enjoying certain games but that is just how it is for me. When I am suffering from it I tend to stick to just certain, known games, usually ones that don’t require much energy, thinking or just have something I feel like playing at that moment. MMOs are the ones that suffer the most as I also don’t feel like doing any kind of social activity, even more so if it means dealing with complete strangers.

The good news though is that I seem to be getting over this particular crisis and I am getting back to a “MUST PLAY ALL THE GAMES!” mood. Which is a good sign in this case. XD

Anyway, on to the games!

[FGO] Thoughts on Shimousa

Last week I was able to complete the latest singularity of Fate Grand Order, Shimousa. Overall I liked it and of the post Chapter 1 singularities it is probably my favorite so far together with Shinjuku.

Perhaps slightly better than Shinjuku since I am a sucker for feudal Japan, samurai and my favorite historical figure is Musashi. This singularity was all about those. Well, mostly about samurai and Musashi. XD

Games I’ve been playing – September 2019

My goal for September was to continue playing the same games as I was playing in the previous month. Failing that (which I kinda expected to happen) then it would be to make as much progress in Judgment and Fire Emblem Three Houses as I could as well as get back into Monster Hunter World.

To the surprise of no-one the later end up happening. Well, sort of. I did play a bunch of Judgement and Fire Emblem Three Houses. Monster Hunter World though I kept post-poning for a reason or another. Despite that I didn’t feel like I played enough of those two games despite having made some good progress on them. To make matters worse I got hit with depression on the last week of the month and end up updating my mods for Fallout 4 to serve as my “comfort food” of gaming and to see if it would scratch my itch for something creative.

I better start talking about each game individually least I start to ramble!

[FGO] Nerofest is awesome!

Last week I whined about my lack of foresight in preparing for Nerofest and how that affected my ability to grind in the event.

Well, on a whim I decided to give that 3 Turn team composition a try during this weekend. Just to see if it would perform better than the team I was using at the time. Turns out that even with Spartacus second and third skill at level 7 it worked! Well, not “3 Turns” worked but still worked much, much better than my previous team. 🙂

[FGO] Nerofest Woes

For months I’ve been hearing in a forum I tend to lurk how Nerofest would be so good. And they weren’t kidding! Thanks to the event’s lottery I have been able to raise some much needed Servants to their level cap as well as level some skills.

However I did make one terrible mistake. I didn’t research properly which servants and craft essences I’d need to finish the petal nodes in three turns. For some reason I thought it would require some combination of very specific servants and/or craft essences that I didn’t have. I was so, so wrong.

Games I’ve been playing – August 2019

There were so many games to play this month. So many that I almost lost what little reason I have and went “Let’s play ALL the  games!”. Not trying that was the wisest choice because even the ones I decided to play didn’t get as much time in them as I wished due to a combination of general lack of energy and being busy with Blaugust.

I’d like this next month to at least keep playing the new ones and making some progress on them though. But we’ll see how the month turns out.

Alright, this is what I have been up to this month:

Games I’ve been playing – July 2019

This is post #1 for Blaugust 2019

July has been the most intensive month this year for me thanks to Shadowbringers. I loved it so much that I could already declare it Game of the Year. The only other contender for the title could be Fire Emblem Three Houses but since I haven’t gotten it yet I can’t say anything about it.

And yes, I know there are still months until the year ends and a lot of other games that haven’t been released yet. I do expect them to be good games too but I doubt any of them will make me feel the same way as the journey through Shadowbringers did. 🙂

Anyway, let’s get to the topic of this post, shall we?
