Games I’ve Been Playing – March and April 2022

For a while now I’ve been thinking about stop blogging. To be honest the itch to write isn’t as strong anymore as it was when I started. Since that is pretty much the only reason for me to write then I doesn’t make sense to keep going if I don’t feel like it.

I haven’t quite decided yet what I will do and whatever decision I end up making there are a few posts I’d like to finish first. So until at least those are out I will keep business as usual here.

Anyway, since I didn’t make my regular games played report last month I will just do a write-up for both months on this post. Hopefully I didn’t forget any game… :p

Games I’ve been playing – February 2022

February was another month where weirdly enough it felt like it lasted almost forever. Honestly, I would be fine if the rest of the year felt like this. It is certainly better than the last few years where it felt like I just blinked and the month was over.

As for the games, not as many variety as I wished for but not that bad either. So let’s get to them!

Games I’ve been playing – January 2022

The month of January felt surprisingly long. I honestly don’t remember when was the last time I played these many games and wasn’t just puttering for 10 minutes in each one.

On the other hand this wasn’t exactly planned. It was just my usual case of ADD kicking in and going “Oh, yeah, there is that game I used to play. I guess I will play it again for a little bit…”

Whatever the case may be I don’t have any regrets about what I played this month!

Games I’ve been playing – November 2021

A villager that sells armor

It is almost hard to believe that it is December already. I am not ready for the year to end! AAAAAH!

Anyway, November was almost one of those “MUST PLAY ALL THE GAMES!” kind of month. I’d like to say that didn’t happen because I got into a couple of very time consuming games but the truth is my heart just wasn’t into those other games.

It was just my rational mind that told me I should play other games for a reason or another. But every time I thought about playing them I just didn’t feel like it. Consequently I didn’t play more games as I’d rather not force it and sour the experience.

But enough rambling for now. These are the actual games I’ve been playing recently:

Games I’ve been playing – October 2021

Seiji Amanome with a creepy expression and saying "A stranger's death dripping with danger and intrigue is a great source of entertainment"

I know I am sounding like a broken record by now but this was another month where things weren’t exactly good, mental health-wise. It began well enough but after a while I just felt irritated with everything for no reason and didn’t feel like doing anything.

Even to play games I had to force myself to do it and I just couldn’t get into it for any long period of time. Consequently I found myself either watching more anime or reading/thinking about TTRPGs a lot more.

I also missed this year’s Halloween event in Final Fantasy XIV which sucks. But I will try to at least do some of the moogle tome’s stuff to at least get that Inferno Jacket. I’d also like to get some other stuff done before the release of Endwalker. We’ll see how it goes!

Anyway, these are the games I’ve played this month!

Games I’ve been playing – September 2021

Another weird month for me. This time every time I was enjoying a game something in it would frustrate me to the point where I had to put it down for a little. Then I had some trouble trying to find something else to entertain me. When I finally found something else to replace it the cycle would repeat!

I think it might finally be over for now as I am finding myself enjoying my time with Minecraft again but we’ll see what I have to say about it next month!

Games I’ve been playing – August 2021

A special translation of Fou saying: "Damnit, I should offed him before he got away..."

Another year, another august gone and done. Speaking of which, I’d like to make a brief note about my participation in this Blaugust.

Although I did purposefully aim for the low post count of 5 posts for the event, in retrospect I wish I’d aim higher or made a bigger effort to go with the theme for each week.

Granted, I made this goal for myself because back in July I wasn’t in the best of places, mentally speaking. In fact I wasn’t even sure if I would be able to make 5 posts during August. Yet I still wanted to participate in some way and aiming that low looked like a good idea at the time.

However it still feels kind of pointless for me to participate in an event like this if all I am going to do is post as usual. This is something I need to keep in mind for next year’s Blaugust so I actually put some effort into it.

That aside, this Blaugust was fun as always. Lots of interesting topics and discussions to read, as well as some new people joining the fold or coming back. In this sense Blaugust is still fulfilling its purpose well.

A big thank you to Belghast for organizing this event once again!

Anyway, sorry for that side note there. Let’s talk about games!

Games I’ve been Playing – July 2021

During most of the month of July I had this funky mood where I didn’t really feel like playing games… or do much of anything. This time, what I found entertaining was to read the Pathfinder 2e Core Rules book, something I’ve been meaning to do for a while.

For people who do not play TTRPGs the idea of reading a book of rules like that may seem boring but I like to delve into new interesting systems and see how they achieve their goals. In the case of Pathfinder 2e I think it does an excellent job of being a game about heroic pseudo-medieval, everything and the kitchen-sink, kind of fantasy. I’d even go as far as to say it is my new favorite for that kind of genre.

Anyway, I did play some video-games this month, not many as I’d like but enough to make this regular monthly post. And those are the ones I will talk about!

P.S.: Blaugust has started and this is my post #1 for it. If you never heard of it, you can read all about it here. The TL;DR version is that it is a kind of challenge/celebration of blogging kind of event for both new bloggers and veterans alike.

Games I’ve been playing – April 2021

April almost turned out to be “Visual Novel Month” for me. Which I was totally fine with. But like in all things in life, an unexpected curve ball was thrown my way and I did end up with a slightly more variety in terms of genre.

In retrospect that might have been a good thing otherwise I’d only have two or three games to talk about this time.

Anyhoo, here is what I have been playing.

Moriarty saying this will be a tale of regret

Although I haven’t quite gotten out of the “Play all the games!” mindset yet, it has abated quite considerably. Part of the reason is because my passion for the games I was playing has cooled considerably for now. The other part is because I’ve been immersing myself a lot into tabletop RPG. It isn’t even because of the campaigns I am playing, it is just my usual madness taking over.

Anyway, March has brought some interesting new incursions in gaming as well as some retreats. Yet my mind still desires to finish a bunch of half- or almost-finished games, but my heart just wasn’t in there. Maybe in April it will be different.

Regardless of all that, here is what I have been up to.
