Games I’ve been playing – December 2019

Happy new year!

The last few months of last year were a bit of a blur for me. December in particular I am not even entirely sure of the games I actually played and which ones I thought I played. So I will just stick to the ones I am absolutely sure I played for this post.

One of the things I wanted to do for December was to finish some games that I was close to the end. Another was to get some easy trophies/achievements I was missing to finally move on from them. In the end I was only able to achieve it with Nier: Automata. I guess this gives me some thing to look forward in the beginning of the year.

Anyway, enough rambling, let’s get on with this!

UPDATE: And I just remembered one game I forgot to include the first time. I put it at the end of the list since I don’t have enough to say about it for a whole new post. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Favorite games of the decade – Part 2

Continuing on my list of the games of the decade but this time with the PC games. If you want to check Part 1 and my picks for console games you can find it here. I will break this into two posts though because there is a lot of PC games and I need a bit of time to get everything written down and sorted out. :p

Also, in case you missed the first time here are my criteria for these lists:

First I am sticking only to games that I actually finished. Or at least finished one route if it has multiple story routes. Otherwise this list would be much bigger.

Secondly, I am not sticking to any particular number of games or ranking them. This is just the ones I can remember from the top of my head and they are all special in my heart for different reasons.

Lastly, this is my personal list. Yours will surely be different. In fact, if you made a blog post like this feel free to link it in the comments below or if you don’t have a blog of your own feel free to write down your list there. 🙂

We good? Ok, let’s go!

[SV] Back to the farm

With the release of Patch 1.4 for Stardew Valley I figured out it was a good time to go back to the game and check all the new stuff.

Usually I start a whole new save when there is a big update like that, both to reacquaint myself with the game as well as to learn all the new stuff in a more natural manner. Then once I get those goals accomplished I return to my original save. Or at least that used to be my plan. In practice I never end up going back to my original save, I just play the new one until I am satisfied and then move on to a different game.

This time I decide to go straight to my original save which led to some complications.

My Stardew Valley Tips

Rakuno checking out the library in Stardew Valley

Some time ago Syp of Biobreak wrote a post with tips for Stardew Valley. I thought I might add some of mine to the mix in the hopes they might help someone else. Or at least help me if I take an extended break from the game and forget all of this. :p

These are things that me and a friend found out while playing the game and discussing it. They should all work with the current version of the game, 1.06, but if a future patch changes things I will update this post.

If you have any tips of yours to add feel free to put it in the comments and I will add to the list with the proper credits. 🙂

Stardew Valley Review

My first farm in Stardew Valley during the fall

Lately I’ve been tweeting a lot (or the equivalent in my case) about Stardew Valley. Ravanel noticed that. She also noticed that I haven’t made any post about the game. So she decided to blackmail me ask me to write some posts about it.

Since she knew almost nothing about the game I thought a review would be a good idea. I might do a few more posts about Stardew Valley after this but it is something I need to think about.

The shorthand I usually hear the most for Stardew Valley is that it is like Harvest Moon/Rune Factory but better. I never played that game series, only heard about it, so I can’t really compare. Another game I hear comparisons about is Animal Crossing but that is another I never got the chance to play. If your case is like mine then read on and I will try to explain what the game is about and why it is so fun.
