Games and more
February was another month where weirdly enough it felt like it lasted almost forever. Honestly, I would be fine if the rest of the year felt like this. It is certainly better than the last few years where it felt like I just blinked and the month was over.
As for the games, not as many variety as I wished for but not that bad either. So let’s get to them!
It feels like forever since I last took a turn in this succession game. Even though this time the rounds certainly went much faster. But just in case we end up losing I will just use this as my excuse for not remembering how to play the game anymore. >_>
Anyway, we were making some good progress with the main story but in typical XCom 2 fashion the game decided to throw us a curveball. I thought it started and ended with Naithin (who handled it pretty well, might I add) and my job was only to continue what he started. I was so wrong…
Before we get to any of that though, if you just stumbled upon this post, wondering what is this all about, here is the deal: this post is part of a community succession game where several bloggers take a turn playing XCom 2. After their turn is over they pass on the save file to the next person to play. Our goal being to beat the game as a group or at least try!

There is so much time between my turns in this succession game that every time I have to play it I am afraid I will have forgotten how to play, mess up and get one of our soldiers killed.
Granted, part of the fun of this succession game is to actually make mistakes and get one of our soldiers killed. I am just of the mind that if I am going to make mistakes that they should at least be interesting ones or funny. Not mistakes that I made because I am just plain dumb and forgot how to play the game.
This time however all those fears were for nothing! But I am getting ahead of myself. Let’s get to the business at hand, yes?

In the interest of honesty, I meant to write this post much earlier in the week. But then I decided to play juuuust a little bit of Minecraft. Next thing I knew it was Friday and I still haven’t written the post. Oops!

Anyway, in case you are just stumbling on it, this is part of a XCom 2 Succession game where a bunch of bloggers each take a turn at the game and hope we don’t end up losing the war against the aliens. Losing soldiers along the way though, specially the ones who are named after a blogger, is completely optional and even encouraged by some.

One of the dangers about having some experience with a game and playing on an easy difficult mode is that you can get cocky. Some times this can lead to some disastrous results. Fortunately that wasn’t the case this time but it came so close to it that it is not even funny. Well, not for me anyway! XD

After the success of the Civilization VI Succession Game, we are doing another one. Once again it is being organized by Naithin of Time to Loot and as the title says we are playing XCom 2! All the details of the event can be found in this link.
The TL;DR version is: Each blogger will play one mission. After that they can spend some time on the Geoscape portion of the game however they see fit until another mission pops up. When that happens they save the game and pass the save file to the next person in the succession.
Oh, we are also putting our own nicknames on the characters and from other bloggers who offered to have their nicknames for this event. The catch is everybody agreed that if any of our namesake characters die we would be totally fine with it.
I even made a Strawpoll of who they thought would die in this mission. Apparently there were a couple of people who were really optimistic about their odds.
