Most game worlds aren’t very memorable as they only really exist to serve as plot devices or fluffy background. Which is fair, not all of them need to be some super-detailed world or would help the story or gameplay by adding more details to it.
Still there are a few that, intentionally or not, end up finding a special place in my heart. So much that if I could choose to live in another world I’d probably choose one of them.
Basically it is just to highlight some YouTuber creators that you enjoy. There are quite a few I really enjoy and I am not sure how much of it will be redundant since they are pretty popular channels. Still, there might be someone who didn’t hear about them before and might be interested.
Also, a disclaimer. I haven’t checked them lately, much as I want to, mostly due to spending my free time watching a coupe of friends streaming, trying to play as many games as I can and watching anime. Sadly this doesn’t leave me much time for much else, plus there is always that idea that YouTube channel will be there, forever, foolish as that may be. Still I believe their content is still of high quality.
If you follow some people who play Final Fantasy XIV on Twitter you might have seem some amazing screenshots accompanied with the tags of #Reshade or #GShade.
If you are wondering what they are, it is basically like this: Reshade is a program that applies some post-processing effects to whatever appears in your screen and as far as I know it is used only with games. You can find some presets for different games here.
GShade is a modified version of Reshade made by a group of Final Fantasy XIV screenshot aficionados called GPosers. Besides some technical changes that I honestly don’t understand, GShade also comes packaged with a bunch of community presets for use with Final Fantasy XIV. They don’t have an official site (that I know of) but you can find the latest version of it by following their twitter account or joining their Discord server.
Originally I wasn’t going to write about this year’s Moonfire Faire since it isn’t all that different from last year. The only differences are the rewards and a slightly different storyline.
Don’t take me wrong. I am not dissing the event or unhappy with it. To me this means the developers are busy with some big content for us so they couldn’t spend much time with this year’s Moonfire Faire. It also makes my life easier since I had 3 characters to go through it. XD
Anyway the reason I am doing a recap for it is because I wrote about it last year and it seems these characters will be reoccurring. So in case the event changes next year but with the same characters it will be a lot less confusing if I have it written it down in the blog and I can refresh my memory about it.
Alright, with all that disclaimer out of the way let’s see what the story is this time.
P.S.: I have no idea why I always end up doing these events during the in-game evenings. It really makes the screenshots look off when it is about a summer event. Sorry about that!
There has been a questionnaire making the rounds around the blogosphere in the form of “Real Neat Blog Award”. As usual the rules are pretty simple, you get tagged by someone, answer their 7 questions then make 7 questions of your own and tag 7 other people.
It is all optional though and this time I got tagged by Pizza Maid of PizzaMaid.moe. She also streams some games over at Twitch if you feel like watching something entertaining a couple times a week. 🙂
Earlier today I saw one of those tweets of “RT this if X has…”. In this case X was Final Fantasy XIV and the rest of the tweet was a small list of things that the game might have helped. I just RTed it because I liked it and then didn’t give it another thought.
Later in the day I saw Belghast, of Tales of Aggronaut, made a whole post based on a similar meme. It was then that I realized I could just have done the same!
Since I have no shame when it comes to stealing ideas for topics here is how MMORPGs helped me in real life:
There was a post in Dating Sims in the Holodeck about high difficulty in games. The gist of it is that they play games for entertainment and a harder difficult in games gives them opposite sensation. This has been so bad before that they abandoned games before due to a sudden spike in difficulty.
This made me think a bit about the topic, enough that putting everything in a single comment would be too much so time to write it all down here!
July has been the most intensive month this year for me thanks to Shadowbringers. I loved it so much that I could already declare it Game of the Year. The only other contender for the title could be Fire Emblem Three Houses but since I haven’t gotten it yet I can’t say anything about it.
And yes, I know there are still months until the year ends and a lot of other games that haven’t been released yet. I do expect them to be good games too but I doubt any of them will make me feel the same way as the journey through Shadowbringers did. 🙂
Anyway, let’s get to the topic of this post, shall we?
August is almost upon us and that means another Blaugust will be here!
Last year my initial goal was to get 5 posts done during Blaugust but as the month went on I got more ambitious and tried to aim for 15 posts. Unfortunately that didn’t happen and I ended up with only 10 posts.
This year though I intend to go for 15 posts from the get-go. Will I be able to achieve it? I have absolutely no idea. But I am going to try anyway! XD
If you are curious what is this Blaugust thing then read on!
This is a post I probably should have done last Friday. But there are a couple of reasons I didn’t do it then:
I wanted my post count to end up at a neat 10
I wanted to see if anyone else would do a compilation of all the advice given during this Blaugust. If they did then I wouldn’t do it too as it would feel unnecessary.
Yeah, I am pretty silly in case anyone hasn’t noticed that yet. :p
Anyway, I decided to make a compilation of blogging advice written during this month by the mentors. It just seemed like a good idea to have it listed in one place, even if it will end up just being for my own use.
Before we get to my ramblings about my participation on this Blaugust, let’s get this list out of the way, shall we?
